Admissions
How can I get my child a placement at FPT?
Choosing a school or college for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make for them.
That’s why we involve your whole family in every step of the process of obtaining a placement at FPT. We work in partnership with you and your Local Authority to give your child the best possible chance of being offered provision from the service that will best meet their needs. Our Step up to College Programme or Employment offer consists of Functional Skills, Employability and Mentor work to ready our students for their next steps.

Step 1: is to read our Admissions Policy carefully, to establish whether FPT is suited to your child. This flowchart may also help.
Step 2: complete our Referral Form attaching the latest version of your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

All information you send us will be treated as confidential and saved/shared in line with GDPR guidance.
Once we have received your initial enquiry, we will get back to you within two working days. We operate an open-door policy and encourage you to speak to us about any concerns or queries you may have.

Visiting FPT
After we receive your initial enquiry, the next step is for you and your child to visit us for an on-site assessment, so that we can better fully understand their needs, abilities and interests.

We might also arrange an outreach visit to their current school and/or care provider/home as well as any other external professionals they are working with.

What next?
We will need to complete an official consultation from the Local Authority or Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to make an informed decision about whether FPT could be right for your child.

If, together, we agree that one of our services is a good fit for your child, we will move forward to secure your child's place at FPT

Once a placement is agreed, we can begin building a personalised programme to ensure a smooth transition for your child into their new FPT community.
